Today in 1819, Alabama was admitted to the Union of States as a sovereign & co-equal among her peers. She became the 22nd member of the United States.
Remember to reflect with pride upon our history, and not let people pigeonhole our State for their own progressive purposes.
At least one politician proudly marks the occasion and ALL of Alabama’s history:
Today in 1819, the greatest state joined the Union. 200 years of memories, and I’m confident Alabama’s best years are yet to come! Happy birthday to my home state. #AL200 pic.twitter.com/KNspyC0RkQ

Celebrations are shortly to begin in downtown Montgomery! Have a fun 200, y’all!
Bravo Alabama! She was a part of Bernardo de Galvez’s campaign against British positions in the War for American Independence. She served as the first host state for the capitol of the Confederate States. And today her institutions of higher learning are known for academic and athletic achievement.
