Thanksgiving Proclamation, 1862

From the Rebellionblog.

 President-Jefferson-Davis

To the People of the Confederate States of America:

“Once more upon the plains of Manassas have our armies been blessed by the Lord of Hosts with a triumph over our enemies. It is my privilege to invite you once more to His footstool, not now in the garb of fasting and sorrow, but with joy and gladness, to render thanks for the great mercies received at His hand. A few months since, and our enemies poured forth their invading legions upon our soil. They laid waste our fields, polluted our altars and violated the sanctity of our homes. Around our capital they gathered their forces, and with boastful threats, claimed it as already their prize.

The brave troops which rallied to its defense have extinguished these vain hopes, and, under the guidance of the same almighty hand, have scattered our enemies and driven them back in dismay. Uniting these defeated forces and the various armies which had been ravaging our coasts with the army of invasion in Northern Virginia, our enemies have renewed their attempt to subjugate us at the very place where their first effort was defeated, and the vengeance of retributive justice has overtaken the entire host in a second and complete overthrow.

To this signal success accorded to our arms in the East has been graciously added another equally brilliant in the West. On the very day on which our forces were led to victory on the Plains of Manassas, in Virginia, the same Almighty arm assisted us to overcome our enemies at Richmond, in Kentucky. Thus, at one and the same time, have two great hostile armies been stricken down, and the wicked designs of their armies been set at naught.

In such circumstances, it is meet and right that, as a people, we should bow down in adoring thankfulness to that gracious God who has been our bulwark and defense, and to offer unto him the tribute of thanksgiving and praise. In his hand is the issue of all events, and to him should we, in an especial manner, ascribe the honor of this great deliverance.

Now, therefore, I, Jefferson Davis, President of the Confederate States, do issue this, my proclamation, setting apart Thursday, the 18th day of September inst., as a day of prayer and thanksgiving to Almighty God for the great mercies vouchsafed to our people, and more especially for the triumph of our arms at Richmond and Manassas; and I do hereby invite the people of the Confederate States to meet on that day at their respective places of public worship, and to unite in rendering thanks and praise to God for these great mercies, and to implore Him to conduct our country safely through the perils which surround us, to the final attainment of the blessings of peace and security.

Given under my hand and the seal of the Confederate States, at Richmond, this fourth day of September, A.D.1862.”

Pat Buchanan Gets It- Quote of the Day

Pat Buchanan, culture warrior and paleoconservative, has seen the writing on the wall in regards to secession. Some of the highlights from his recent article include:

In the last decade of the 20th century, as the Soviet Empire disintegrated so, too, did that prison house of nations, the USSR.

The spirit of secession, the desire of peoples to sever ties to nations to which they have belonged for generations, sometimes for centuries, and to seek out their own kind, is a spreading phenomenon.

What are the forces pulling nations apart? Ethnicity, culture, history and language — but now also economics. And separatist and secessionist movements are cropping up here in the United States.

Proposition Be Gone!

Proposition Be Gone!
by Dr. J. Michael Hill

Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.

– Abraham Lincoln
Gettysburg Address
November 19, 1863

Ignoring the first 200 or so years of American history neo-cons and various revolutionaries today insist that the United States is a “proposition nation.” By that they refer to the opening line of Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address, and allow Lincoln’s silly and false assertion to re-write American history and make the United States the carrier of a revolutionary philosophy that its Founders would have rejected with contempt. The Founders understood, of course, that lasting nations arise organically, from religion, people, soil, and tradition.

Abstraction or Reality?

The League of the South, unlike the America of the New World Order, is not wedded to a universal proposition: equality, democracy, or the rights of man, but to a real historical order based on place and kin. If we are to survive as a distinct people with a physical place to live, work, and worship, then we must never waver from this commitment. Men much wiser than we can hope to be repeatedly caution that it is from our fathers, and not from abstractions, that we draw our sustenance as a separate, distinct, God-ordained people.

But for the past half-century, both liberals and neo-conservatives have worked to discredit nature: that a human’s first temporal allegiance is to kith and kin. These self-appointed social engineers are trying to reshape Creation according to their own false notions of good and evil. Attempting to rebuild the Tower of Babel, they would nullify the Biblical and historical reality of true nationhood.

Southerners have always understood that a nation is not some abstract or proposition. Such threads are too weak to bind a nation. Only blood and shared tradition supplies that cement. As Southerner Stark Young wrote in So Red The Rose, “It’s not to our credit to think we began today and it’s not to our glory to think we end today. All through time we keep coming in to the shore like waves, like waves. You stick to your blood, son; there’s a fierceness in blood that can bind you up with a long community of life.”

Long before Stark Young, Patrick Henry, the greatest of the American Founders, had already recognized this. “We are descended from a people whose government was founded on liberty; our glorious grandfathers of Great Britain made liberty the foundation of everything. We draw that spirit of liberty from our British ancestors.”

Buried Under Strangers

Today, totalitarians of all stripes champion “equality” by pushing for an “open door” immigration policy to the Third World. They don’t care whether the thousands upon thousands of Muslims, Latinos, and other non-Western peoples threaten the economic, racial, ethnic, and cultural balance of our country. Rather, since they hold sacred the “rights of man,” they view America as the world’s first universal nation, dedicated to the “proposition” that all men and cultures are created equal.

The Immigration and Naturalization Act of 1965, subsequent legislation, and judicial edicts have allowed into the U.S. millions of non-Europeans while closing the “Golden Door” to European immigrants. They encourage Third World immigrants—both legal and illegal—to maintain their own cultures and languages while plundering America’s taxpaying citizens.

Echoing In Our Ears

If history does not repeat itself, it certainly echoes. The imperial United States today recalls the Roman Empire when barbarian Germanic tribes were overrunning Rome’s frontier. No deep-rooted racial or cultural antagonism lay between Roman and German because the tribesmen envied and admired Roman civilization—as far as they understood it. To destroy Rome was not their wish; to save Rome was beyond them. Not having created it, they could never understand what made it work. Like leeches, they could only suck it dry.

Eventually, even under the best circumstances, a huge alien influx loyal only to our prosperity will weaken and destroy our civilization. They lack both the desire and the understanding to preserve vital institutions, but meanwhile their numbers will overrun us. We will cease to control the homeland bequeathed us by our ancestors—generations of noble and honorable men and women.

Perhaps we will suffer a fate worse than Rome’s. Already, radical Latinos have launched a reconquista [re-conquest] of the U.S. southwest, while federal judges thwart volunteer efforts to turn back the tide. Never mind the speechifying, what do government actions show? Which side have our rulers taken? Clearly, not ours.

Survive or Die

To survive and prosper, we have to adopt Frank Owsley’s attitude. The great Southern historian who said, “The term ‘folk’ has for its primary meaning a group of kindred people, forming a tribe or nation [in the truest sense of the word]; a people bound together by ties of race, language, religion, custom, tradition, and history… A folk thus possesses a sense of solidarity and is quite different from a conglomerate mass of people. It has most if not all of the characteristics of nationalism [again, properly defined]. Indeed, it may be contended with much force that there can be no true nationalism where the population does not constitute a folk.”

Our primary objective should be to preserve our people—kith and kin—on their ancestral lands. Without our land, we cannot exist. The Southern people are not a “universal idea” any more than Germany, Holland, or Spain. There can be no Scotland in France among the French, but only in Scotland among the Scots. Once we secure our future as “the Southern people,” then, and only then, can we bring back States Rights and gain our independence. The South is a true nation built on realities of place and kinship and history. Without it, we cannot survive.

What do we need?

  • A South where our borders are sealed against massive immigration.

  • A South where the Southern people protect their interests from the ravages of multiculturalism and phony diversity.

  • A South where a prosperous, self-confident, and distinct people can welcome into its ranks, by its own choice and on its own terms, productive and sympathetic immigrants.

  • A South that will be a beacon to those nations defending a traditional way of life against abstract ideologies and a new world order.

  • A South where Southerners can answer beyond doubt “Who are we?”

When we know who we are and are willing to defend ourselves and our posterity, then we shall be a truly free people. If we fail to grapple with this basic question, we shall end up in the proverbial “dust bin of history”—unsung, unworthy, and unlamented.

Bye, Bye, J.J. Jr.

J.J.Jr

Eventually, the duplicity of left-leaning race-baiters always comes out. Jesse Jackson, Jr., the poor man’s friend, has been convicted of misusing nearly 750,000 dollars worth of campaign funds. He has been sentenced to two years of prison, followed by 3 years of supervision and 500 hours of community service. His wife is to serve a one year prison sentence for her part in the matter.

According to jessejacksonjunior.org, Jackson fought for the advancement through his writings and political career a

…series of constitutional amendments that would guarantee all Americans the right to vote, and the right to high quality education, health care, and housing.

Despite Jackson’s talk of supporting the poor, any effort he made against poverty was ultimately through government intervention and mommy-state welfare. His own money, whether stolen or otherwise, he kept for his own personal use. One-third of Jackson’s state of Illinois is said to be in poverty, but that was just something he could wail about to get more welfare money.

Jackson used his ill-gotten funds to buy an array of needless items, ranging from MLK, Jr., memorabilia to a Rolex watch, all while wailing about the poor, under-trodden classes. The prosecuting attorney noted that Jackson wasn’t even in financial difficulty:

They were in the top 10 percent of household earnings in the United States. There’s just no need for this kind of conduct

Jesse Jackson, Jr., certainly has had a good run, though. He co-chaired Obama’s 2008 presidential election, was rated 93% out of 100% by the ACLU, 100% by the NAACP, became buddy-buddy with Nelson Mandela, and wrote a book about achieving financial success.

Jesse_Jacksons_Obama

Jackson was, by all accounts, a liberal poster-child. He was completely anti-Dixie. We here at St. Andrew’s News have highlighted some of his most memorable quotes:

President Obama tends to idealize — and rightfully so  — Abraham Lincoln, who looked at states in rebellion and he made a judgment that the government of the United States, while the states are in rebellion, still had an obligation to function…   –J.J. Jr., Nov., 2011

But to truly bring about greater equality of the races and the classes in our society, to establish minimum standards of human decency and civil rights protection, to improve the overall quantity and quality of all Americans’ lives. And to move individual Americans from economic need to economic security with greater human, religious, and spiritual development, the federal government must play a significant role to build a more perfect “Union.”   – J.J. Jr., Oct., 2001

Conservative Republicans and Democrats, with the cooperation of the media, have successfully painted “welfare” and “crime” as code words for African Americans. As a result the southern-oriented and conservative Democratic Leadership Council argues that the only way Democrats can become a permanent majority party is to show “responsibility on the fundamentals”–be fiscally conservative and tough on crime and welfare–and recruit suburbanites, the middle class, the more affluent and independent swing voters (whites implied on most counts). A further translation is: Let’s move away from the traditional Democratic base and the “special interests” of people of color, women, and labor.

Conservatives today openly talk about “block grants” and “local flexibility and control,” the new catchphrase replacing “states’ rights,” which, of course, was the old code word for protecting slavery, Jim Crow segregation and racial discrimination.  –J.J. Jr., Oct., 2001

I’m calling on President Barack Obama to honor his campaign commitment of 2008 to stand behind legislation that raises the minimum wage for the American people a little more than he requested in 2008 because the numbers and the economy reflect that $10 is not an unreasonable starting point…    –J.J. Jr., June, 2012

Saving and investing even small amounts, steadily over your lifetime, is the best way to create wealth. Trying to hit it big by winning the lottery is sheer nonsense. The chance of winning is infinitesimal.                                   – J.J. Jr., July, 1999

Interestingly, despite all of Jackson’s hatred towards Alabama, he still requested our country to be imprisoned in:

I ask for Alabama so I can be as far away from everybody for a while as I can be. I want to make it a little inconvenient for everybody to get to me

The irony is so thick you could cut it with a knife.

Idiotic Quote of the Day

Whether you are discriminating on the basis of race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation, you are violating the basic morality that … should transcend every country

-POTUS Barrack Hussein Obama (Emphasis added)

Now isn’t that ironic? How many Christians must die in U.S. controlled and influenced Egypt and Iraq before the President condemns those places for their violations of “basic” rights? From drone use to arming Jihadists, the President has his pick of global evils to condemn.

Barack-Obama-Putin

No, only Russia deserves to be picked on, because they displayed what appeared to be a bucking of the new modernist values.

Vladimir-Putin-prays

Meanwhile, Obama’s friends in Saudi Arabia routinely dish out punishments like 600 lashes and seven-year prison sentences for insulting the Prophet.

But it’s best to balance every idiotic quote with an intelligent one, and Pat Buchanan fits the bill nicely:

There is another reason Russia is recoiling from America.

With the death of its Marxist-Leninist ideology, Russia is moving back toward its religious and Orthodox roots. Secretly baptized at birth by his mother, Putin has embraced this.

Increasingly, religious Russians look on America, with our Hollywood values and celebrations of homosexuality, as a sick society, a focus of cultural and moral evil in the world.

Much of the Islamic world that once admired America has reached the same conclusion. Yet the Post is demanding that our government stand with “the persecuted rock band” of young women who desecrated with obscene acts the high altar of Moscow’s most sacred cathedral.

Upon what ground do we Americans, 53 million abortions behind us since Roe v. Wade, stand to lecture other nations on morality?

…As for our lectures on democracy and morality, how ’bout we put a sock in it?

Afghanistan, Iran, Syria, trade, arms reduction—we have fish to fry with Putin.

Federal Insanity

Let’s review US policy toward Egypt to see the foolish hypocrisy of the government’s interventionism: First the US props up the unelected Hosni Mubarak for decades, spending tens of billions of dollars to keep him in power. Then the US provides assistance to those who in 2011 successfully overthrew Mubarak. Then the US demands an election. The Egyptians held an election that was deemed free and fair and shortly afterward the US-funded military overthrows the elected president. Then the US government warns the military that it needs to restore democracy – the very democracy that was destroyed by military coup! All the while the US government will not allow itself to utter the word “coup” when discussing what happened in Egypt yesterday because it would mean they might have to stop sending all those billions of dollars to Egypt.

All this they do with a straight face. We are not supposed to notice the insanity of their foreign policy.
