The Federal government has bypassed Congress once again and put in place 2 new executive orders curbing gun ownership. One of the measures forbids the import of military-grade surplus:
The second executive order announced Thursday aims to keep military-grade weapons off the streets by prohibiting private entities from re-importing firearms that the United States previously provided to foreign allies. Currently, the law requires U.S. government approval before these weapons can be re-imported.
So, while the Fed can hand them out to whoever it wishes, be they Jihadists or drug cartels, the citizens of the States- you know, the people who actually pay for the government- are denied them. The reason? We just aren’t responsible enough:
Today, the Administration is announcing a new policy of denying requests to bring military-grade firearms back into the United States to private entities…This new policy will help keep military-grade firearms off our streets.
The White House even gleefully thumps its own chest on it’s snubbing of Congress:
Even as Congress fails to act on common-sense proposals, like expanding criminal background checks and making gun trafficking a federal crime, the president and vice president remain committed to using all the tools in their power to make progress toward reducing gun violence,
This is a representative government? Where the Executive ignores our representatives? Despotic at home and aggressive abroad, that’s the “United States.”
